The College was founded in 1964 by the late Rev. Mother Mary Louise,the College was opened in the Holy Angels' Convent premises on July 6,1964 with the late Miss Margaret R Paulose M.A., L.T. as the first Principal of the institution and 277 students in the first year of the Pre-Degree Class.

On July 24,1967, the College was upgraded by starting Degree Courses in the following main subjects: English, History, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Zoology. Two Degree Courses, Botany and B.Com were started in July 1980 and Physics in 1993.

Post Graduate course in English Language and Literature was introduced in 1982, and in 1990, the Department of English was recognized as a Research Centre of the University of Kerala. Post Graduation in Commerce and Environmental Science were made available from 1995 and 2000 respectively.Now we are having 13 departments in our institution.
