LANDMARKS

 

* All Saints' College is run by the Congregation of the Carmelites Religious of Thiruvananthapuram. Founded by the Rev. Mother Veronica in 1864 at Beyonne, France, the order is devoted to imparting quality education to women.

* The College was established on 1/7/1964 by the late Mother Louis C.C.R.

* The College was opened in Holy Angels' Convent premises on 16/7/1964 with the late Miss Margaret P.Paulose M.A., L.T. as the first Principal of the institution.

* In 1967 it was shifted to its present location at Chakai, then a poor fishing village off the Arabian Sea Coast.

* The College began with only undergraduate courses and 277 students on the rolls and with the affiliation of University of Kerala.

* On 24th July 1967, the College was upgraded to the Degree level in the following main subjects: English, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Zoology.

* Two Degree Courses - Botany and Commerce - were added in july 1980.

* Another Degree Course Physics was added in 1993.

* The B.A (Restructured) Course in Communicative English was introduced in 1999.

* Post Graduation course in English Language and Literature,Commerce and Environmental Science were introduced in 1982,1995 and 2000 respectively.

* The Department of English was recognized as a Research Centre of the University of Kerala in 1990.

* The College won the College Vriksha Snehi Award, 2004, instituted by Friends of Trees,an NGO.

* The College had also won the Anne Mascrene Award,2006 for Excellence in Education and Meritorious Service, instituted by The Latin Catholic Aikya Vedi.
